A Tribute to the Real Life Steel Magnolias

I could go on and on about this 10 minute clip. But really, my words are not necessary. Every second of the clip is pure and true to life. It's all there: sadness, grief, sorrow, anger, judgement, passion, friendship, empathy, joy, laughter, peace, redemption, forgiveness, fear, love, and hope for the future....just like the lives of each and every one of us...regardless of the struggles we face.

And yes, there are times in this blogging world when I feel a bit like Ouiser...people would really like to take a punch at me and have a tshirt boasting that they did. Oh well, it's okay. I don't mind takin' a few hits for team Steel Magnolias.

"laughter through tears is my favorite emotion." I love that line. I love that clip, I could watch it a million times. It is amazing how they really do capture every emotion. Thanks for the laughter through the tears. Love you.

This is a favorite movie of mine and my sisters. (We also love the sisterhood part at the end of Moonlight and Valentino, which has much the same message.)

And btw, I agree that laughter through tears is the best emotion, hands down.

I used to watch this movie and cry and still not being able to imagine how a mother could be feeling about the loss of her child. Now, I see this and it is exactly how I felt. I was not supposed to bury my child. Thank you again for sharing.

One of my favorite movies ever. It portrays women at their best - supportive, loving, and funny. We should all be lucky enough to have a surrounding group of friends like that. "Laughter through tears" - ain't nothin' better. It's when you feel the most love.

I always thought it was Wheezer. Guess that is the Northern in me.

I saw this movie in the theater with my mom and her girlfriends when it was released. They bawled their eyes out at this part. I did't quite get it then. I do now.

We have a name. :)
Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis. Praise Allah.

HaHa! One of my favorite movies. My mom and I have watched it so many times that even my little brother (6'2" manly man with hair like Robin Williams) can quote it. When he was working at a video store in high school, some girls rented it and my brother ripped off a quote as he checked out the video. According to him "They gave me the strangest look, geez!"
This movie gets me through anything!

I have now found something I need to do, fix a near-fatal flaw. I've never seen Steel Magnolias. Must be time.

I am with your friend, Mary. Megan was not suppose to go before me. I think that I am a lot like Malin in that movie. I love Steel Magnolias and I think it is time to find some laughter through these tears. Thank you for sharing that clip.
