A Library Kind of Day

Ok, I admit it. I don't visit the library often enough. Why? Because it's like some freaky time warp when I get in there. I go in thinking I'll be there thirty minutes tops. (That's how I plan to do it...wham bam, thank you for the books library maam.) But inevitably, by the time I leave, 3 or MORE hours have passed. I think I need to go more often. Princie is A.MAZ.ING.LY calm and happy there. Me too.

It's no secret I want to go back to school. Maybe I should be a librarian? But, I'll have to let my hair grow because it's too short for the whole sexy bun thing...and, I don't need glasses but I know Target sells some super cool fake ones. I have some stilettos, and a pencil skirt (never mind that it's too small...I could work on that while I'm in school). Yep, that's my image of a librarian. If I were going to be one.

It's a 15 minute drive to the library. Around 8 minutes in, I realized Princie had not stopped talking for even one of those minutes. I am serious, I don't know how she does it. I wonder how she even breathes. Anyway, at minute 9, this was the conversation....

Me: Hey, I have an idea. What if we just listen to music and enjoy the ride.

Princie: I am enjoying the ride.

Me: Yes, I know. But how about just thinking about the ride instead of telling me all about it.

Princie: Nahhhh. That's a bad idea.

I turn up the radio. John Mayer's "Say What You Need to Say" is playing. Princie begins singing along...if you've heard the song, you know it's mostly Mayer repeating the words "say what you need to say".

Princie: Now that's a great idea. I like his idea much better than yours.

Then she begins singing: I'm gonna say what I need to say, say what I need to say, say what I need to say, say what I need to say..........

And on and on she went for the next 5 minutes.

Thanks John Mayer. Thanks for your great idea.

I love libraries...the smell of books. I worked at the middle school library once a month for 3 years. The librarian almost talked me into going back to school and majoring in "library science". I guess there is a fair demand for that specific career. Who knew.
But, my problem with libraries are my overdue book fines. Ugg.

I think I wanna be a librarian in my next life. Oh, and love that song, but it would drive me crazy!:)

So opposite, boys and girls. Compare your experience today with my Tucker experience. Girls love to and over-communicate. Guys loathe to and mis-communicate. God made us this way for a reason . . .

Meme will be happy to know you are taking Princie to the library....of course, you love that place!

The greatest all time forever past time..reading!

You would be the cutest librarian...bun and all! (So, don't everybody scream at me)...but, the only potential problem I see is that every librarian I ever had was so grouchy! And I could never understand why!!!!....who could be unhappy surrounded with all the books they could read?

She was just trying to say what she needed to say....poor little thing...I am sure it was very important, mom! She has to listen when you talk, after all! :) Seriously, there are those of us in this world that might implode if we can't say what we need to say!

Mom, I'm with you. That's part of the reason I was thinking about this today. The ladies that do storytime...love them and their cheery selves. But, the others weren't so happy. I want to be a HAPPY, super cheery librarian...even if I'm dealing with grouchy people and not just doing storytime!

Cute post Natalie. I have a "chatty cathy" at my house too.

"Chatty Cathy(s)"....huh????? :)

Oh and just in case anyone is interested....Snarky Belle won the State "Storytelling Competition" in High School!!! Guess we all should have seen the "inner librarian" thing coming then!

Isn't this great...having Snarky Mama on board...you can find out all her little secrets as time passes...........hee hee (my most sinister Snarky Mama laugh)! :)

I always have to put off the library until I have hours because I KNOW it will never be 30 mins!

My nephew Will came over for a few minutes yesterday (he is 5) and chattered at me for about 10 mins, I miss that!! It was really fun.

When we moved back to UT, I knew I had returned to civilization the day I took my kids to the public library here. It is HUGE and clean and cute and has the greatest kids section. Our last one in MS--not so much. My favoite thing though was the self-check out! Fab-u-lous! Yeah for good libraries!

morgan is the same way. My mom sometimes askes does he ever stop? And I just smile and say when he is asleep! Today he didn't have the question session instead it was tweeting at the birds out of the window as loud as he could.

My daughter is super-talky too...probably just like me. How adorable is Princie? I love the library too. So quiet and peaceful.

I just love the library too. But, I think I'd make a horrible librarian. I think I like bookstores even better. I can eat snacks and drink coffee there! :)
