Could it be we are so "programmed" to believe in everything but miracles and angels...always praying for the best, but then always, always, expecting the worst! (and having absolutely no trouble believing that is all "we" deserve).
Talk about feeling like you have a "thankless job." Looking out for people 24/7 and then they chalk it up to coincidence!
